the way the bean sees things

i wish i had more time to write down my thoughts about the way my life is going these past few days.  Then again, if i DID have the time to write things down, then i guess that means NOTHING is going on isn’t there?  As they say, it’s better to actually LIVE life than TALK about life.

So let’s get started with my blabbering…

Comparing.

I can’t help but compare things all the time.  It’s my nature.  It’s the scientist in me that likes to compare things to get to a conclusion.  Everything I do and everything I observe in UP-PGH has to be compared to DLS-UMC.  My friends may not be saying it, but I know they’re definitely thinking it.  Every day I gotta weigh if it is really worth it coming here.

Well, I’ve come to a conclusion.  It is DEFINITELY worth it.  Why?

Number 1: In order to have a broader grasp in life, you gotta see both ends of a spectrum.  I’ve been living my life the La Sallian way, and am totally grateful for that.  In order to see more clearly, I have to get out of that side and start looking at things from a different view. Learn the same things (or more) from other people that may or may not do things the way the people at UMC do.  For that I am grateful.

Number 2: Toxicity is a staple life of a PGH doctor.  I’ve been through that last year.  I was a Toxic clerk.  and now I am a toxic intern.  But in my opinion, I’d rather be toxic than benign learning nothing.  The hard part is being toxic and still not learn anything.  Take my advice: instead of whining about how toxic everything is, focus on the patient and what you can learn from him or her.  In the MICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit), I got 3 patients all with the same sickness: Myocardial Infarct (or in layman’s term : Heart attack).  These 3 patients taught me more about MI than Harrison’s ever did.  Books with pictures are always better than plain text.  Moving, talking beings that seemed to have come out of harrison’s itself is even better.

Number 3: New setup, new ppl.  I am now working with a different set of people.  I am proud to say that the people I am working with me now are totally efficient and helpful.  No one is pulling anyone down.  In other words: WALANG LAMANGAN.  Thanks guys ^^

These things may make you think “Oh my gosh, leen has been converted…”  Hello friends, I’m La Sallian bred, there is no way in hell that i am just going to ignore my roots… Going into PGH i have been ultimately proud that I came from La Salle.  I wear the famous La Salle ER scrubs to work, and I definitely know that there are some things that I learned from La Salle which are totally assisting in my smooth adventure here in UP.  I am now a green-blooded girl with a maroon tinge… ^^

Sure I miss the people.  Ill never forget them that’s for sure.  The more friends the better… ^^
